Hi, I'm African American and I'm married to a Chinese man who grew up in a traditional Chinese family. Do you know of a way to get him to open up and talk to our kids more about Chinese culture?

I did get to hear my Dad talk about his Chinese culture and about his growing up, going to college, immigrating from Fujian to Taiwan, and from Taiwan to the USA, by sitting down and asking him sincerely to share about it because I did want to know. I let him speak in Mandarin Chinese, even though I couldn't understand every word. I turned on a digital voice recorder, and recorded it too - one of the best things I ever did with him, because that is now a family keepsake.
