humanity should spend more time in things like this rather than fighting all the time

FUCK AMERICA THIS IS FAKEEEE!!!!!!

@ umm simply put, To balance the momentum (mass x velocity) downward of the thrust, the rocket must generate a momentum of equal magnitude but in the opposite direction (Law of conservation of momentum). This is done by the equal but opposite thrust force pushing back into the shuttle (3rd law of motion) accelerating it up.

@Hornadayfan The engine is capable of throttling between 67% and 111% of its rated power level in one percent increments... so 100% is not the the max thrust available, it's a given value determined during the development of the engine, so it's one level of thrust... the engine can operate safely at higher values (like 104.5%), but higher than 104.5% can cause engine failures...

That's awesome!

@Hornadayfan The initial design was at 100%. The improvements over the years made them better.
-
@Hornadayfan I think that is because 100% is the rated thrust of the engine, meaning the thrust that it produced during its testing. Probably this day the engines performed a little better.
-
Can someone tell me how there can be any thrust above 100%? I don't understand...

@Stover36 No, it is not classified.

@NorthEuropean I'm talking about before the thing launches. The roll maneuver is when the shuttle is in the air. You can notice (barely) what I'm talking about between the main engine start-up and the SRB ignition. But yea the KSC is a pretty amazing place, you can't disagree there :)
More or less, at T+7:44 All the speed, mach, range and acceleration get censored.
Is it because the sensors are shut down or because it is classified information?

@Stover36 It was an issue with the older Spacevidcast ascent scripts. We fixed the problem after this flight and made the data a LOT more fluid. Also made it so if there was one error in the data, it wouldn't trickle to other areas like it did here.
