  • Nice micro-wave, and the ground lug is normally on top, escecially in commercial applications where a metal face plate is used, reason is, if that metal face plate ever slides off, it will drop onto the plug, and in some cases it can be loosely plugged, and can touch the hot and neutral plugs, to prevent the short, they put the ground intop so it doesnt short out and trip a breaker, or even worse. The plugs can touch the metal face plate causing a dead short.

Thank you for the info about why the ground should be on top. Ive seen metal plates pop off and short on someone laptop plug in college. I allways install outlets ground side up and most the time people complane that I did it up-side-down.

  • Came across your video here on the Radarange.Did it take 2 people to pick it up???LOL>I just wanted to also say,,,I also have one of the "first" Radarange's,,mine is a model RR-1,,with a super early serial number acording to Amana's office. I found my oven on a roadside junk pickup in louisville about 10 years ago.It is in remarkable shape,,and still sports the original power cord. It still works fine,,which is a testament to thier engineering back then. I think it retailed for 795.00 in 1967.

  • @singlejeff69

I managed to lift it myself. I would love to see a picture of your RR-1.
