  • Ellington recorded this for the Master label and a second take was put out by Raretone. He recorded 2 vocal versions in the same session, one with Ivie Anderson on the Variety label, and one on Columbia sung by Ivie, Rex Stewart and Harry Carney. Ivie performed a song with this title in the Marx Bros. movie A Day at the Races and Ellington might have participated in making the film. If so, their music ended up on the cutting room floor. The filmed song bears little resemblance to these records.

  • This is from the period when The Duke recorded several sessions for Columbia's short-lived "discount" sister label. This one was recorded on June 8, 1937, and features a VERY different interpretation from the original movie version...

  • Great song! This is from one of my favorite movies.

  • Now this is fabulous!
