Yup the bible at times reads like the end of The Unforgiven. ' Any man I see out there, I'm gonna shoot him. Any sumbitch takes a shot at me, I'm not only gonna kill him, but I'm gonna kill his wife, all his friends, and burn his damn house down.'

Now compare to Joshua 6:21
And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

The really obscene thing though is religion can make a sane man stand up in the front of an auditorium at Oxford University and justify the slaughter of children. I am still stunned that they just sat there while he calmly went through and explained why killing children as 'spoils of war' was actually a supremely moral act, and a joyous occasion for all involved in that this was the day that these children were to be blessed with the ultimate gift of having their earthly phase of life being terminated. Just to put this into a modern context, if any of these slaughters for 'God' had been performed using gas chambers, would there still be lines of christian queuing up to justify this by the infinite blessing the children received?

God can give and take Life as he sees fit? Well NO. That would make him a Tyrant. Secondly, don't Christians say Life is a GIFT from God? Once you give someone a Gift, does that Gift still belong to you? No. It belongs to the other person. So if Life is a Gift then that means that Life no longer God's but ours. Simple Logic!

Next time go into detail about this: if children are blessed when dying, and god can command lifes to be taken, then why is abortion bad? Arent the pro-lifers anti-god? By killing the unborn, it goes straight to heaven. is it okay to do a backalley abortion with a coathanger as long as i say, " i am doing gods work and sending this hookers child to heaven!"?

That is the basis for social behavior and society. We are a social species and in the past we figured out that we have a better chance of survival if we worked together in groups and helped each other. The one group member that did not help out, but was detrimental to the group will be ostracized for the well being of the group. You can see the same behavior with wolves and elephants, it's just that now our society is extremely complex but at its roots it's the same as the wolf and elephant.

I have no wish to become combative- in fact it is easier to discuss various points in peace as you say. My own journey in utilizing the scripture was to take one out of the new testament and apply it to my daily life. At that time - back in 2001, I was angry and frustrated and I dared God to prove Himself to me thru His word. So I picked a scripture and said if you are real- show me with these words. So that's how it started. The scripture was -1 Thess 5:15.

And I'm fine that religion has given you that. But I am trying to let you understand why religious people became Atheists, it's because we actually read what the bible said and thought about what we read. But to me even if Yahweh existed, he would not deserve to be worshiped or loved.

I am not trying to present a science project or "prove" anything to anyone. I give my own testimony. I have put all of my trust in Jesus Christ- yes. And I have sought His presence and His guidance for many years. I have crucified my own flesh in order to walk in the spirit with Him for He is Spirit. I have found enormous peace, joy and humility as a result. What Jesus has done for one person, He will do for any person who seeks Him. Its a choice.
