ESBIT STOVE WITH GEL FUEL

Cooking with an ESBIT stove using military gel fuel.Diethylene Glycol is the technical name of this product.The mess tin Im using is current issue British Military, hard anodized aluminum, very strong and lightweight. I estimate it took about 6-8 mins. to get the water to boil like it did.

did you notice if any of the gel leaked through the holes in the bottom of the esbit?

I did a comparison video on my channel between this and the green heat fuel gel. but i just used the bottom to a soda can to hold the gels as i was wondering it they would seep through. the green heat would definatley seep through. but i had much better results with the US fuel gel and if it doesn't seep through the holes, then the esbit stove would still be a good option as i carry esbit tabs also.

@sh0rtmag I didnt notice any seepage of the gel fuel, its really thick and seems to stay that way through the complete burn cycle. Thanks for watching.

I am surprised it heated up your meal that quick , I am just hoked on alcohol stoves lol

I might start using these instead of the esbit blocks as the gel fuel works out cheaper, just 40p a packet here or around £4 for 12-14 or so
