  • Is this full movie/documentary available to watch online or order dvd?

  • @realsociology This is part of an advocacy programme that aims to communicate key issues to a broad audience. It complements other comprehensive data that some of those involved in this project have also been involved in collecting. The State of the World's Midwifery Report and the Atlas of Birth both provide great information. Education of midwives and increasing govt investment in women's health are key to saving women's lives. 'Bringing down the partriarchy' might help, but isn't in our remit

  • It has some good points, but as a midwifery student it is lacking in details.

  • This is a most powerful and moving short film. Its is an opening to the discussion of the need for world wide midwifery care - I wish to add that there are skilled midwives who haven't received formal "training" these women also deserve consideration and respect.

  • As an educationalist however, this is a good example of how form (nice cartoon!)can take precedent over content. I teach Global Development - I won't be using this - it lacks substance - it doesn't really say anything - a missed opportunity - hardly any stats, no details of countries, and the solution to the problems faced due to lack of midwives across the world is to 'educate midwives and speak to policy makers' - that's hardly going to bring down patriarchy overnight!

  • And more birthing hypnotherapy, more widely known, more freely used. Your body tenses up when you hear negativity like "It'll be painful" and "it'll be frightening" - the fear causes most of the pain

  • Great video. Clear and concise without being sickly sweet.
