Basin Street Blues - Carling Family 1996
Gerd (trombone) at 25 Gunhild (trumpet) at 21, brother Max (29) on clarinet and youngest brother Ulf at 17 ( drums)
perform some stunning jazz. The other members playing this tune are father Hans on piano and mother Aina on banjo.
The Carlings follow the Louis Armstrong All Stars arrangement. Today I saw this video for the first time. I can't explain why, but it get's me emotionally. I have seen and heard a lot of jazz in my life, but this is one of these bands that does it to me.
Someone wrote that maybe I post too many of the Carling videos. I'm sure they are right, but fortunately this is my video site and I can make the decisions. Fortunately the number of viewings is incredibly large, especially for a new young band playing with such respect, interest, talent and knowledge about our beloved jazz history
Oh, this is good! Wish I'd been there, front row, middle. Please keep them coming, erwig.

Gunhild has obviously been listening to a lot of Louie Armstrong licks. Even so she was very good as well as sister Gerd on t/bone.
