Held Oct 3-4 in Chattanooga, TN the 2nd Secessionist Convention excluded no secessionist organization no matter how small. The Alaska Independence Party, of which Dexter Clark is vice-chair, is one of the biggest and most well respected - for good reason!

Let Alaska become independent of the U.S. gov't. Of course, they would have to buy their freedom from the U.S. and think of all the money sent to the state as it is now. For every $1 Alaska sends to Washington, they get $2 in return. The idea that they are "independent" is far from reality.

Being a Canadian and having to deal with this issue only 2 times more obvious with the Quebecois I can say that secession isn't this big scary thing. If it's what the people of a state want, then they damn well deserve it. Look at Ireland, almost all of Yugoslavia, North and South Sudan. The people want to separate so the propper means were taken to make that a reality. If you're American and you're trying to stifle Alaska then look back to when you were a British state. It's all the people.

@indeliblepoet ..Palin supposedly is doing her duty for the AIP by joining the Republican party and infiltrating the US Govt. to instill the AIP mode. Of course she will refute this. She did her best to incite hatred and violence like the AIP, and did with her minions. However.... she is not doing very well now. The Republican party is getting fed up with her and her stupidity and her talking points.

Alaska doesnt need the lower 48, and if AK did break away they could make better use of their vast natural resouces with out the damn federal government constantly butting in. If Alaska did want to break away i would be in total support.

I have never been to Alaska and I'm just a city boy from Los Angeles, but I totally support you guys. If the citizens of Alaska don't want to be apart of the United States, then you all shouldn't have to be.
