My best friend had one just like this in his welding ans steel fab shop. It came off a battleship and he rebuilt it top to bottom. As big as it was it could still do some very fine work on small parts.

I worked with one of those at Michigan State University for years. NICE machines, they helped us kick butt in WWII. Easy to make good parts fast. Super easy speed changes. Easy jaw changes, takes collets too. Yes, it does feed both ways at the same time, handy for bevelling a corner.

I worked a Monarch exactly like this for ten years in a toolroom. Powerful and accurate. Imperial screwcutting only. The taper turning attachment was incredible, all roller bearings.

Looks a very good machine to use, I like the big crossslide dial.

I set up and ran an old Monarch on our big jobs - mainly CAT engine combustion rings. I prefer the smaller, modern manuals, though, so I was glad it finally stripped gears and went to the graveyard, lol!

Great machine. Wish i had the space and the money for one. I like old machinery like this.I know where theres a Hendey of the same vintage, and trying to persuade the bloke to sell.

Un saludos desde VENEZUELA por lo que me doy cuenta a la mayoria de nosotros nos gustan las máquinas viejas, para mí son únicas, tengo una fresadora austriaca de 1950 para relojeria, un emco unimat 3, y máquinas grandes, esto es mi vida y mí pasión, GRACIAS A MI PADRE POR ENSEÑARME A TRABAJAR GRACIAS PARA ELOY ALVAREZ. y si con dinero y espacio comprar máquinas y producir para todas las industrias, las máquinas viejas no pasaran nunca de moda estaran con la historia a subir videos
