Quick Jam with Roland TB-303, TR-909 and JX-3P.
Sorry for bad audio quality. My Canon Ixus do not have line-in for the audio.
303 as master, 909 trigger synced to the JX-3P's sequencer

  • @maccagrabme Actually, I think the hardware gear market is bigger now than it's been in years. There's a hardware renaissance going on coming out of the ashes of people bored and disappointed with software. DAW's and vst's are cool in many ways, but making music ultimately comes down to inspiration and fun.. if you can be inspired and have fun making music in a DAW, more power to ya. I know that I can't. On the other hand, give me a 606 and a x0x and I can jam all night.

  • @maccagrabme They would buy it if the price was right. I love my x0x. The software just isn't the same. Doesn't sound the same, isn't as fun to use, etc. My big consideration is live performance. I like to do live PA and don't really care about tedious production on a computer screen. I can live without the 707 but the 606 is a blast to use live and sounds cool. I guess it all just comes down to whether you have the money and whether play live or not. If not, stick with software.

  • @VincentsVideoVisions Exactly, its special because its rare. Given that the xoxbox is 98% the same as the real thing I don't think everyone would rush out and buy Roland re-issued gear, for instance I like the 303 but can live with the software variant instead of laying down £400 on a hardware clone. Same with the 606, 707,808 and 909, the plugins will do thanks unless the hardware was very cheap. The Jupiter range is a bit different though, I could be tempted at £1500 for a new Jupiter 8.

  • @maccagrabme It is special because it's fairly rare and cost prohibitive. samples and vst's sound somewhat close, but there's no mistaking hearing the real deal, and it is "THAT SOUND" that moves dancefloors and makes brains explode. You're not likely to hear anything "groundbreaking" coming from a 909 since it's been explored like crazy, but it is amazing at what it does... btw there's 303 clones called x0xb0xes and they kick major ass.

  • @supersoundcrafter The trouble is I suspect that if they did release this kit again it would quickly end up being nothing special. For instance you have most of it in software form, ok its maybe 90% compared to the real deal but I don't hear anything groundbreaking coming out of it that hasn't already been done. I think the only kit they need to re-release is the Jupiter range, the rest is good but not that great.

  • Superb bit of old skool kit still rocking over 30 years on......its a shame roland cant produce quality kit like this any more.

  • just bad ass, my friend....

  • bad ass, man.....

  • which do you like.. the jx3p or the 106?????
