  • @ThePurpleButterfly33 It wasn't that they didn't do the research - they wanted the film to be a representation - not a documentary. They took liberties with the way everything looked so they could create their own style for the film and appeal more to westerners.

  • @ThePurpleButterfly33 Ugh I agree, and the hairstyles! I thought that maybe they were too difficult to reproduce and that's why they simply gave everyone ornate buns, but Pumpkin has the correct Maiko hairstyle in several scenes. Wonder why they didn't do the same for Sayuri :P

  • Wonderful song. I noticed though that her taiko knot was terrible. The directer must have failed to research on how to properly tie an obi, she didn't have a makura in the knot.
