Les Paul straight into the amp. Volume 10, Treble 10, Bass 4

I picked this puppy up COVERED in real floor carpeting. I was sad that someone would do that to such a classic amp! But to my surprise, I opened her up and found it to be 100% original! So luckily, they kept their "changes" to the outside only.

After a once-over by me to get her back to spec, a fresh set of power tubes, and a minor bias circuit adjustment to help balance the tubes, and she's set. Sounds pretty good for a AB165 circuit! Most mod the CRAP out of these amps.

I do apologize for the off-time playing. I simply plugged in, turned it to 10 and played. Then played over myself all in one take. Its unprofessional to be as off as I am, but I had fun. I might do a followup vid with drums and bass if anyones interested.

  • So that's what my pre-CBS Bassman would sound like on ''10''! REPLACE that old box!! Go to MOJO TONE for their ''blackface Bassman head'' repro box ($150-$200?). A beat-up blackface Bassman in need of a new repro box is a GOOD kind of problem!!! Rock on!

Nah, the beat up wood gives it the tone :)

No, single track. Slight reverb added in post-production.

Stock AB165 1965. The key elements is that I retubed and Recaped the amp and used Scumback speakers. just try finding a stock bassman and have it looked over by a good tech.

  • @gamedojo hey! did you double the lead guitar sound? or is that just rythmn and lead guitar and the lead has some serious tone and harmonics?? it has to be two lead guitars or a chorus effect right?
