@reignick1133 China mass produces a lot of crap, but pretty much all good quality production katanas (by Hanwei, Cheness, Ronin Katana, etc) are all made in China. It all depends on how good the forge is.

Buy American ( or whichever you may be located in .) but never entrust ANYTHING let alone your safety , life and well being to cheap crap imports form slave labor sweatshops in China.
It's "cheap" for a reason....and in this case it came back to bite that salesman in the arse.
