I think it was necessary to ask those questions, what if the father had run off at the sound of police sirens? Also, what else would this woman say for the 9mins on the phone? The operators are trained to ask these kinds of questions so the police/ambulance can get the clearest picture of the situation before they enter, things like knowing how to recognise the house by the brick and driveway must be really important if you've never been there before.

This is so sad but I'm really impressed by his calmness. Not many 14-year olds can give information to dispatchers that calmly in situations like that.
