The Hadron Collider, CERN, is the world's largest high energy particle accelerator, intended to collide opposing particle beams. The 17 Mile Hadron Collider was built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) with the intention of testing various predictions of high energy physics. The Collider lies in a tunnel 17 miles in circumference and 570 feet beneath the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland. The Hadron Collider was funded by and built in collaboration with over 10,000 scientists and engineers from over 100 countries as well as hundreds of universities.

On 10 September 2008, the proton beams were successfully circulated in the main ring of the LHC for the first time. On 19 September 2008, the operations were halted due to a serious fault between two superconducting bending magnets. The Hadron Collider is scheduled to be operational again in November 2009.

  • @Thripd Prove it.

  • @PivoTMarshaL lol

  • So, what's the scoop? Is this thing ever going to run? Not that I'm particularly anxious about it; perhaps it went into a black hole of it's own? Haven't heard a word "newswise" on this phenomenal undertaking. Is it a GO or a NO GO? Anyone out there know? Is anyone out there? Hmmmmmmm

  • DAMMIT!!!!!!

They've definitely taken dividing by zero WAY to far!!

  • You see that people, the Swiss have the biggest balls around here, we can plant a black hole on any of your asses if you dare cross us.

  • Aaagh, people, this experiment is victimless, and will remain so. In fact, the benefits in terms of infrastructure, employment etc. are as far-reaching as your ignorance.

Science for the sake of science is about the most pure thing we can aspire to in such a corrupted world.

  • Wormwood

  • Anything relative to the speed of light is a risk; we are choosing to open a precarious door. LET' S DO IT!
