Here finally one of the more seldom CAT III approaches with an autoland.

RVR 400 m at the touchdown zone. DH 50´

Notice the far less precision in the landing itself compared to a normal manual landing.

  • they cut off A/P when the nose hadn't touch down.and we should cut it off after the FMC has done all the jobs.

    Hi

    who is "we".

In this video everything is done 100% be procedure, remember, this is only a CAT IIIa approach with no automatic rollout capability..!

  • CAT I would be alright if it is 91... Two words: Flight Visibility... Observed only applies to 135 and 121, so assuming this was part 121 they had to do a CAT III, but had this been Joe in his IFR 172, he could have shot it to CAT I minimums because you see the RAIL by 200, and the red bars by 100! Fun stuff

Thank You for the explanations. I´m not so familiar with the US Regulations.

  • @bombardierdude15 ILS approach systems comes with different accuracy. from CAT I to CAT III. CAT III is sometimes called "blind landing" because essentially the pilot can land his plane with almost no visibility. With other ILS systems the pilot must go around at this case because he cannot see the runway clear enough to make a safe landing.

  • CATs means minimum visibility and minimum decision height at which pilot must deside if "to land or not to land" :) See "Instrument Landing System" on wikipedia, there's chapter about categories.

  • what do CATs mean? does it have to do with the speed u land when performing an ils?

  • @suiteno1 one of the reasons i feel is that in some air crafts the plane does not go into retard mode moments before landing when the auto pilot is on its a safety feature!!!!

  • @bar2v

I corrected the title from "CAT III" to "CAT IIIa", pehabs that makes things more understandable.

  • @flythetube Just out of curiosity, if this is a CAT III landing then why are there minimums at 50ft..cause a CAT III there are no minimums, just RVR. I know it was autoland which is CAT III cause you hear the disengage right after touch down.

  • how they land ?? if me ...no ,,, think the plane will crush !! lol !! :)

    amazing landing
