嚴格來說, 這並不是秋霞姐的頭一張單曲收錄曲. 她的頭一張單曲名為 Our last song together, 1975年3月錄製完成(B面的Where are you為小坂明子的あなた). 但因在其後她在一項香港流行歌曲比賽中, 以這首 Dark side of your mind 拿到"最佳作曲"與"最傑出表演"兩個獎項, 她的第一張專輯(大碟)亦以此為名, 而且, 此前的單曲都是翻唱曲, 因此 Dark side of your mind 便被視為她的正式出道歌曲.
