  • You've convinced me, I'm buying that Dyson vacuum...

  • @Maxid1 Hahahahahaha

  • What's your point, magazines have been dying since the mid-90s, why are you portraying this as a unique fresh observation...also it seems like you are attempting to hasten the demise of "this old house magazine"...whats your angle, hmm.....

  • @pavelow235 I would recommend that you go back to the video and click the link in the Description of the video. That will give you what you need. Bottom Line: the ROI of a magazine ad goes down over time. Spend that same money on any number of online videos that demonstrate the product and the ROI goes up every day.

  • You may have more views but it's not just about eyeballs it's about trust. Millions more trust askthisoldhouse vs some relatively unknown guy on youtube. I have been watching this old house on tv for over 20 years i just found out about you this year. If they were advertising and talking about that Dyson vs. you talking about it I would listen to them because they have built up trust and well known.

  • good point from a good man

  • What advertisers have to figure out is that online ads dont have to be about click through direct linking to their product to purchase online. When I see a product in a video online, it may not be until my next trip to the hardware store that it ticks in my mind "hey this is what I saw online. I might just buy it." This is how print media ads work after all.

  • Nicely done and said Tim

  • @myozone I understand you. But realize this. It's the ads that enable you to get the content on TV or the Internet for FREE. If people do not respond to the ads and occasionally CLICK them if the ads are of interest, then all this wonderful FREE content that you enjoy - well, it's going to disappear OR you'll be forced to pay for it. This weekend I'm taking two of my most popular FREE videos off of YouTube. If you want to watch them, you will have to pay.

  • @AsktheBuilder I guess if .001% of the 'millions' that see ad's then then go onto click it or buy it's worth it ?...
