risingsunproductions.net presents Canadian Champion during the 1960's and early 1970's Wally Slocki The hand of Thor as he was nicknamed. He was the first one with the really good kicks and he could use them.
He was a good teacher and a nice guy. I used to go and learn on the weekends with my Brothers. I am sorry I was to young and unfocused to appreciate the opportunity to learn. He had a location above my Grandfathers arcade down on Yonge st with some really good students. He trained this guy named Derek something or other who was amazing!
hwe was a good point fighter and a Canadain Pioneer.
But didnt't Benny Allen, his teacher, quite teaching martial arts due to the "sport" asspects of the new karate? Didnt he disown most of his students for not being "Tradtional"
I trained with him in the 80's in Downtown, Toronto. He use to call his style "Slocki Ryu" (with a smile). One of the pioneers of Full Contact Karate. He was very knowledgeable and ahead of the mainstream when it came down to fighting techniques. Our students learned rear naked chokes and arm bars long before you saw MMA fights.
Wally is one of the best if not the best fighters i have ever seen! If you haven't heard you wally slocki then you know fuck all! The is a dangerous man right there!
He had a flying scissorskick you had to see to believe.
