the reason audi wasnt quite as good as some of the other cars is because they were "purist" on front mounted engines. wile ocmpared to pretty much everyone elts who were mid mounted. so for all of audis victorys on their setup its amazing how well they did.

The S1 has a cult following as it was generally excepted to be the most powerful and brutal of all the group B cars with an Iconic engine which sounded amazing - enough said

The S1 was NOT less advance than any of the other group B cars, indeed Audi had many development parts for the car which was going to run a reduced programme in 1986, the PDK box which debuted in Austria in 1985 the the RAC in 1985 was going to re introduced for mid 1986 so were revisions to the inlet manifold and turbo charger and some new light weight panels, the engine mods were going to give a further 40BHP (to 620BHP) and weight down 70KG to 1160KG it just was not mid engined
