Here's a sample of what took place at The Bowery Poetry Club on July 12th of this year, at the Ninth Annual Woody Guthrie Birthday Bash, in New York City. This evening of musical tribute featured Oscar Brand, Jessica Feinbloom, Robin Greenstein, myself, Anne Price, Steve Suffet, Gina Tlamsa and Carlos Vasquez.
Woody is credited with popularizing the talking blues in this country. Here's one he wrote in the 1940s. Funny how some things never get out of style, like mean people who don't like unions.
Here's what Woody had to say. I am joined here on guitar by Robin Greenstein. Enjoy the video and join us in Greenwich Village next July!
