If the Lamborghini Aventador can live up to its performance claims, the 691bhp four-wheel drive supercar should easily beat the much cheaper Porsche 911 GT2 RS and Mercedes SLS. Clearly, the only way to find out is a drag race.

  • @Zyphon400 I was never referring to the engine catching fire, I said "the thing" as in the car. And Ferrari never expected and built their cars to catch fire but they still do..

  • I'd much rather have a GT3 RS than any of these three.

  • @StuRaz well, might be. To be honest, i'm not that much into sports cars to be able to appraise this. But i really like your car taste, these ones are really beautiful, especially the gt3rs, but way to expensive - at least for me - to afford :P

  • I've got a good personal example. Somebody I used to know had an old 996 shape Gemballa spec GT2 and when he got rid he replaced it with a Mk1 TVR Tuscan S. Now anyone familiar with TVRs of old know they're a fucking handful in any condition, not known for good handling but that's how bad the 911 was. The TVR made it look like a kit car, and that's saying something.

  • @parad0x18 Ever since the GT2 was born it has had a bad rep and nicknamed "the widow maker" - it's everything that was ever wrong with 911 Turbos of old in the first place just with even more power. I think I remember Jason Plato trying to drive one and having to desperately wrestle the wheel to keep the car under control.

The best cars Porsche make are the Cayman R, GT3RS and Turbo Sport Chrono - the GT2 just isn't worth it.

  • @StuRaz interesting point. I agree with you, that the GT2 and the RS version might not be the very best cars Porsche has built yet, but how do you know that the handling and apparently all the other parts that make a Porsche GT car are so badly aligned? No offense, i'm just interested whether there's a review or so. And i don't think that they actually built the GT2 (RS) in order to have a car who can beat a GTR. Just look at the 911 Turbo S. With PDK equipped it can run a 0-60 in 3.1 seconds.

  • @parad0x18 The GT2 and GT2RS are 2 of the worst cars Porsche ever made. They're like 'low rent' AMG Mercedes (excluding SLS, almost) that seem to exist simply because they hadn't built it already and nothing else - bad handling, raucous unrefined pieces of shit. The GT2 RS was built solely so Porsche could stand up and say "we can go faster than a Nissan GT-R" and that's it.

A car nicknamed "the widow maker" doesn't have the heritage of driving pleasure or quality.

  • @rvind92g The Gallardo engine was built by Lamborghini.
