My cattle dog/ collie does this too. It's not "irresponsible"... it's good exercise, good for the mind and fun for owner and dog. Shanowl1... go talk to the people out there abusing dogs and setting them on fire k?

I would hesitate at calling this dangerous. maybe perhaps for an untrained less agile animal.
This is no more dangerous than slipping and falling from an agility A frame or stuffing a box at flyball.
There is always an element of danger when doing anything active with a dog, although given the correct training, in a gradual and structured manner anyone with half a brain will always strive to minimise the risk.
