I have had four tree frogs as pets for the past two years. I caught them around my house. Recently I have been feeling like it was time to let them be free because tree frogs aren't really a domesticated pet, and they need lots of room to climb. Since today was a very rainy day, it seemed like the right time to do it. Behind our house is a "forest" with a small creek running through it. This will be their home.

Thanks to Ray Stevens for his rendition of "Frog Kissin." Link to the video is annotated.

  • You are so nice!! I wouldn't have the guts to do that I would miss them and cry everyday! Are you sure they new how to survive in the wild?? Because you could just let them out for some hours and watch them and then get them again and put them back that way they can be free but also your happy because you still have them with you.

  • @Britney9122000 aw that's a nice thought, but they are WAY too fast and squirmy so I wouldn't be able to catch them again I don't think. And I'm SURE they will survive in the wild b/c that's where I got them from. They are tiny little things and I'm pretty sure they can find places to hide if they need to. :)

  • I'm sure your frogs felt really lucky to have a sweet owner like yourself! You did the right thing setting them free :')

  • @Josh1023cp Thank you for saying so! I was thinking of them, how they'd like it in a big open space w/ lots of trees :)

  • are you sure they knew how to survive in the wilds? i mean they were pets for quite long

  • @Drac441 I suppose I can never be TOO sure, as I cannot go check up on them or anything, but - it's survival of the fittest out there, and I can just hope and pray that they win! :)
