MYheroMJrip - The Supremes were actually on tour when this song was recorded. After their last show Diana was flown to detroit to lay down the lead vocals for this track backed be THE ANDANTES, she was flown back to where they were performing before the other 2 got up and they never knew about the song until they had to perform it on a TV show after it was released
@mystkpizza I read Mary Wilson's autobiography titled "Dream girl & Supreme Faith" and she wrote that she went on a vacation without informing Berry Gordy and so he went on and recorded the song. Mary knew they where working on a song but not which one.
Well Well Well you really don't know anything about the Supremes - After Jean left the group they had some great recording recording but but this time they didnt have the backing of Motown anymore - but still did great recording check out HIGH ENERY - THE SUPREMES -MARY SCHERRY & SUSAYE. They officially dibanded in 1977 not 1976. I will agree with one thing their stage presence became less than what it had been with Ms Ross, but they were a group again
@mystkpizza trust me I've heard all of that Post Diana stuff, and most of it sounds quite dreadful to me -- Gross. If they were as great as you claim they were, they would have had more of a concert draw and they would have had decent record sales.
