@lilnate4242 It means you're holding it much nearer to the centre of mass. It's then easier to get the best out of gut strings (I find) - perhaps because they tend to be more reluctant to speak cleanly than modern/metal strings.

All Domenico Gabrielli works. That was common at his times. He wrote first good music for cello. The instrument was bigger than modern cello

Thanx! That's unknown italian (19 cnt?)instrument, specially remastered to baroque proportions by Viktor Nikiforov.
