'Guy d'Hardelot' was the pen-name of Helen Guy, the French wife of a British Doctor. She took the name from her birth-place of Hardelot, a suburb of Boulogne.

Tauber's recording of 'Because' was one of just four songs in English he recorded in Berlin in September 1932 for his growing British fan-base. Six months later, he had fled Germany for ever.
Exquisite. My father sang this at two of his daughter's weddings. I have always loved this song. And Harry Secombe's voice was amazing. Thank you so much for posting this.
