Excessive glow kills trees and can bleed through and ruin alpha textures even two regions away, use glow responsibly and always consider how what you build effects those around you.

Ooooooooh! So THAT'S how it's done! See, I just recently upgraded ta a video card that supports post processin', bloom, glow, etc. etc. shaders. TOTALLY DID NOT NOTICE that new slidebar in my object texture thingy! Though it seems like it's always been there... In any case, thank you! Now I has glowy halo! :3
