Midland Alan 8001 CB Transceiver - Like Superstar 3900, one of the world most famous transceivers. I rebuilt the radio in many hours. Renewed the clarifier pot, changed the channel display to red, added external s-meter jack, retuned the vco and bias setup. Now it's nearly like new.

  • great video ralf these transceivers are really piopular in italy but people seem to think that the newer version is not as good as this one not sure anyway if our authorities ever get around to giving uk cb operators legal ssb/am this is probably what I would opt for 73s see you on the transmission one forum regards Adrian 26TM549

  • @Adriano9966

Hi Adrian! Yes, the radio works great. Our authorities are talking about 12 watts SSB like spanish norm. We'll see what happens...

    Best wishes! 73s!

  • Yes, please tell us all the details about this radio. Over here in the states, all of our radios suck! Cheers!

  • Hi, inside is a EPT360014B board. Same as many Galaxy or Ranger AM-FM-SSB radios.

  • whats up with your normal signel meter

  • It's diconnected while using the external one. Normal for this radio.

  • I don't like midland radio but with uniden board inside, it's a perfect tx :)

  • I do like the look of the midland radio, these do look a particularly set. Not enough to make me swap it for my superstar like! Lol 26TM359

  • @dazaboy2k9

Ive had 4 Midland radios, and all had problems with signal meters.

Im not saying they are all naf,but i find them to be not good.

  • Miałem to radyjko i jak je szybko kupiłem tak szybko sprzedałem jak na te czasy to radio powinno śmigać elegancko, lecz pozostało wielkie rozczarowanie. Wróciłem do Presidenta Jacksona bo to niezawodny sprzęt

  • I looking for a s=meter like the one you have... Can you help me out with some info.. Thanks

  • @ WBarts ...My 8001 Plus Euro makes nearly 100 Watts on SSB PEP and 60 Watts on AM and FM with the old 1969 and was mod by Benson in Hamburg/Gemany ......

  • hi how can i get one of thoses radios

  • @d1g1man Our radios suk? Cheap Galaxy will do the job, or jump into a Magnum S9 or Stryker, For the channels and most are over 40W in FM. Am 2W to 50W. If I had my choice, Mag S9. Run a Gal Dx 949 Carrier is 8.7 Swing to over 20 Peaked. My other radios under 100 do the job too. Uniden 68 2 carrier to 14 swing, Gemtronics 4 carrier and swings the best out of all of them, Old 23 Channel. Not a Big Cobra fan but, you can get a 29LTD and ADD a Powerband RFX75 on it and get over 100W for 35 USDs.

  • Nice radio.. Not many in use Keep it going!
