@clnbb22 It is negative 8 because we want to make one or the other, or both brackets to equal zero. Anything multiplied by zero will give us our answer on the right side with is zero. So if we make x equal to -8 than that bracket will equal 0.

If it's (x+8) (x-6)...why is the solution set {-8,6}?
I thought the 8 was positive and the 6 was negative...O_O

Because you have to subtract -2x+4x to get +2x because the 4 is a larger number. You have to use the positive sign.
