When God chose your kind as the object of his love. I was the first in all of heaven to bow down before you. My love and my hope for mankind hasn't lessened yet. But I have watched you trample that gift. I've watched you kill each other over race and greed Waging war over dust, rubble and words in old books. And yet in the midst of all this darkness. I see some people who will not be bowed. I see some people who will not give up. Even when they know
hope is lost. I see you.

@Lufbery17 But He is proven to be the deadliest warrior

@Gawaine687 I don't think Cornwallis qualifies as a good general. He surrendered his entire army at Yorktown.

@joey513ja I agree completely with your comment...but it remains that Malborough was highly effective and fighting against what imo was the most powerful nation militarily in the world certainly in numbers in any case. Napolean was an incredable commander but you can't list him amongst great generals without Wellington who I feel was the superior commander. But in either case Marlborough was a great general, even though i don't like the chap as was Napolean and all those you have listed

This will be played at my funeral.

@rsjtoday While Jackson was a great general and strategist, he was probably not the absolute best. There are several generals though that could compete for that title though like Sun Wu, Hannibal, Caesar, Napoleon, Pershing, Patton, Grant, Sherman, Joan de Arc, Genghis Khan, Tokugawa and Lee. Just to name a few.

@Gawaine687 Washington was a poor general (He lost more battles than he won), but a great leader of men. The best general needs both of these aforementioned traits.
-
@rsjtoday Jackson was a superb tactician, not the best strategist. Otherwise, he would've realized that was no hope the Confederacy could win conventional war against an enemy with superior resources.

@kzgc8y3n To attempt to explain would be as futile as describing a sunset to a blind person. Its of the heart and yes of the soul.

@MegaCastigers A Great General cant be measured on his losses and his Victories. Its multiple things like how much respect is given to the person, how quick he comes up with strategies and how effective they are. Just because he was facing France (which in my opinion was and still have a bad reputation for surrendering) Duke of Malborough probably got lucky because his offenders were terrible. Try Lee and
Napoleon. Hooker. Suverov. Patton. Eisenhower. Powell...JUST TO NAME A FEW...

when Jackson died the hope of the south winning the war was over. Jackson was probably the best strategist the world has ever seen

oh id hardly say that. Gettysburg was a near miss for the union, especially during the Battle of Little Round top on the second day. and Lee and longstreet were brilliant generals as well, though perhaps less agressive than jackson. and saying jackson is the best is a tall order; what about him makes you think such? especially as there are so many other greats, such as Alexander, Caesar, U S Grant, Cornwallis, Washington, Napoleon, Lord Nelson, just to name a few.

@Gawaine687 Nelson was an Admiral, not General. And to add to that there's Wellengton, Blucher, Hanibal,

havig read a good deal about nelson, i know he's an admiral; to be specific, he died as a vice admiral of the white, pretty high rank, if not highest among the british. but the subject was how good of a stratagist and leader these people were. as to the answer, i dont know, but lee was definitely one of the best.
