An absolute, all time classic; sold 900,000 copies. I saw the original quartet in 1950 at the Earle theater in Philadelphia, when I was 18 and already a huge fan. There was then a radio station in Philly which had a half hour sponsored by MGM records, so most of the time Shearing or Billy Eckstine were heard. Wow!

@ljliljohn "September in the rain" is the first record I found with George Shearing (it was one of the records in the first pile of 78 rpm records I ever bought even), and is still one of my favourites with him,
