  • @howellfilm She is still with us, and operates from time to time twice a year at the Nevada State Railroad Museum. Every July 4th and Labor Day weekend.

  • The 1965 TV Show locomotive (from the pilot) was the Sierra No. 3 which is still at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown, CA

  • @defigi: There were many locomotives that hauled Lincoln's casket on the trip. But there's no definitive evidence that the Willaim Mason hauled Lincoln's funeral train. There's a photo of a locomotive that was built by Mason locomotive works and actually resembles William Mason but it's not #25 herself. We'll never know for sure.

  • what happened to the Wanderer (the train from the series?).

  • The Wanderer

  • I got to go on set when they were filming Wild Wild West when they were filming on some of my family's land in Idaho outside of a small town called Reubens. I was told that the engine was the same one that pulled Lincoln's funeral train. Does anybody know if that is true.

  • Hey! That 'before' picture of the William Mason was unfair. That locomotive has been in beautiful original condition, and was able to steam under its own power before the movie repainted it.

  • That is correct. The thing with the Reno is, she is ruined enough as it is, and a new boiler would not have much impact on her, it would do good for her to have her run again. The Bowker, is kinda hard, she still has her original Lap-seam, but would be great to see back. Then again, Genoa is steamable, and is in better shape. Bowker should sit in Genoa's spot, while the #12 sees steam.

  • Both the Reno and the Bowker would need new boilers if I'm not mistaken. The Bowker has an iron boiler witch is illigal to operate in a steam loco, the Reno's boiler was pumped full of compresed air and blew out, if I am not mistaken.

  • It would be wonderful if the Reno was restored to steam too, and the JW as well.
