Set in the west-side of Los Angeles fight world, a world inhabited by bouncers, cage-fighters, cops and special forces types, Redbelt, is the story of Mike Terry (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a Jiu-Jitsu teacher who has avoided the prize fighting circuit, choosing instead to pursue an honorable life by operating a self-defense studio with a samurai's code.

Terry and his wife Sondra (Alice Braga), struggle to keep the business running to make ends meet. An accident on a dark, rainy night at the Academy between an off duty officer (Max Martini) and a distraught lawyer (Emily Moritimer) puts in motion a series of events that will change Terry's life dramatically introducing him to a world of promoters (Ricky Jay, Joe Mantegna) and movie star Chet Frank (Tim Allen). Faced with this, in order to pay off his debts and regain his honor, Terry must step into the ring for the first time in his life.

Jiu-jiutsu initially thought fighting on your feet and ground fighting! It hought kicks and punches also! Brazilian Jiujitsu, even as thought in Brazil, still focuses too much on ground fighting! Ground fighting is something you want to avoid! UFC is a competition and there won't be another opponent that's coming fron behind your back, in real life that's not the case!

  • i had a good movie on my hard disk for so long n didnt know. gonna watch it now. thanx for the trailer :)

  • This is very nearly a summary of the film, rather than a trailer.

  • Awesome movie, even though it made me really question UFC. I thought it was a great way to promote what Jiu-Jitsu has to offer people who want to learn real battle ready self-defense.

I can't believe so few went to see it.

  • this movie means a lot but it's underrated by lot of people

  • The movie it's self was great but the story should've been longer by lettin Mike Terry fight a few competiontions so that the movie can be more extended & build suspense in the story

  • This movie is a perfect example of a warrior fighttin a battle 2 truely win. It applies to real life in a very significant way. Livin ur life by ur principles & let no one stop u frm doin so. At the same time u have 2 do wat u have 2 do 2 survive, 4 urself & 4 ur family. It's about a martail artist livin by a warriors code while gainin wat he thought was some allies but gainin enemies by manipulation of him & his family 4 greed.

  • there's a couple different types of Red Belt; the first kind is the Tae Kwon Doe Equivalent to a Brown Belt. the 2nd Kind is by being a 9th Degree Black Belt & passing a test after the 9th Degree Black Belt is held for something like 25 years, instead of a 10th Degree, it becomes a solid red belt & finally, the 3rd kinda Red Belt; the Great Grand-Master; (There's only two in history & the only way to earn it is to make a Great Grand Master Tap Out, or kill him with an unarmed, legal hit
