Five high school students, numerous extras, and one guy who kind of looked like Anderson Cooper if the lighting was dark enough. Add in a secretly chagrined principal, an A/V director who probably thought we were going to hell, two VHS decks, one small cassette player, and an army of Pink Floyd tapes to keep the show running, and you've got KBGT. While the other kids in the Paola High School Creative Writing class were spending April of 1994 trying to make serious, informative, and hard hitting "school news" programs, we were determined to produce an anti-establishment video freak out. The end result could be subject to interpretation.
With a bevy of injokes and jabs at everything from Channel One to MTV to Cambodian Caning, this thing probably needs an answer key more than an introductory blurb.
In chapter one you'll find our illustrious anchors getting the show off to a rousing start, followed by the first of the broadcast's three commercials. Notice how their outfits will magically change throughout the course of the program. That's the magic of video.
Also of note: the classy way in which we carry our scripts with us at all times.
