The French DEFENSE is weak?? So Korchnoi, Vaganian, Uhlmann, Morozevich, Anand, Topalov, Petrosian, Psakhis, Botvinnik, Bareev, Lputian, Radjabov, and Ivancuk are all weak players??
No, it's a solid opening depending on the variation. But I don't think the computer's opening book on moves after 2.f4 was very extensive. And compared to the more common moves it would normally play in response to 1.e4 like the ruy or sicilian, the french is not his strongest opening choice. I say this only about the kingmaster chess computer and what I'm accustomed to seeing it play. I'm sure grandmasters are much different.
