  • A two-place Spitfire? I thought the only one in existence was Carolyn Grace's. What can you tell us about the history of this aircraft? For certain, no two-place Spitfires were turned out by Supermarine.

  • @anghmho Can anyone assist anghmho? I have a suspicion that this aircraft might be Tr9 MJ627 (G-BMSB).

  • Hi Cyrus. They are Gorse bushes.

  • all you need to know is here it was originaly baught as a pair by "grace " one kept and this one was shipped out originaly built as a single seat for the RAF

it is the machine that was rebuilt after a double fatality crash the pilot that was killed was norman lees that flew the radial pair harvard display in the 80's with gary numan ! the crash was put down to pilot error presumably caused by a flu remmedy !!

  • love the roar from the 27L Rollce Roys V12!!

  • @anghmho This Spitfire was a rebuilt Mark 4 i think they added the rear cockpit and called it a Tr9

  • Just saw this plane on an episode of "Massive Speed" on discovery. Just in case anybody's wondering why the Irish Air corps retired the plane, it's because they needed the hangar space for a Eurofighter....honestly

  • What is that bright yellow flowering plant growing between the fields at the end?
