  • im going into basic training on the 12th of january, can't wait to be in the Cavalry.

  • You don't av to do ceremonial in the regiment. However due to the armoured side bein overmanned at the moment, you will be sent to knightsbridge on ceremonial before you get the chance to come to Windsor. D squadron is attached to 16AAB, however there is no requirement to pass P company to be in D squadron. All our squadrons have some para trained personnel it is a privelage granted to us to do the course.

  • if one was to join now would they be sent for ceremonial parading etc straight away after training or would they be sent to war straight after training?

  • going bassingbourne on 3rd April :)

  • Toujours Pret

  • Off in 23 days for basic, going Blues and Royals

  • the name of the trumpet fanfare at the begining?

  • hehe okay thanks for the info, nobody will believe I spoke to a guy who knew james blunt on yt. peace

  • im not sure about his posting to kosov, as i left the regiment about a year or so after he started his knightsbridge ceromonial roles. i dont think he would lie about something like that. it is also possible he came from opperational into ceromonial. all i know is that he blows at ceromonial. he was probably a good soldier if he was opperational, knightsbridge is very testing not every one is cut out for it.

  • was he really? did he get posted to kosovo like he claims?

  • There are unlucky people who do get told that, but myself and quite a few other lads have been in Windsor 5 years or more and due to the courses we have done etc there is little likelihood of us bein sent to bridge whilst herrick is ongoing. Theres also quite a few SNCO's who have never done ceremonial so it is possible to avoid it if you dont want to do it.

  • just to put the record straight, when i was in the h-cav i had to do ceromonial, its part of your job weather your armoured or not. you rotate the guys on the horses also would like to do the tanks so you have to change places every couple of years. its a requirement of understanding upon signing up. bets to get the horse side out the way though as their is a good chance your service on the tanks will be extended some.
