Compiz Earth plugin

A plugin for compiz 0.8 branch that shows a realtime lit earth.

Now on git.compiz.org ! (~satamaxx/earth)

And now with shaders !!
Multitextured earth with a night texture, and specular reflexion on oceans.

This video also shows conky drawing the wallpaper using lua and cairo bindings.

Sorry for the flickering, it's due to the capture and the way compiz handles the display, it's perfectly smooth otherwise !

Hi there, what forum can i ask you questions about an error i get when i MAKE install this file

@dragonmantix Sorry, I don't have a forum nor a website for this project. At first I did it only for myself, then decided to share it to get a minimum feedback and a bit of stimulation to help me finish it. Now I'm back to school and have very little time to work on this, so for the time being it is provided as-is. However I'll try to help you if I find some spare time, send me a private message with your errors !

Like your plugin! Tried to download the plugin but when I try to extract I get EOF errors for both packages

Small update : I rewrote the plugin from the start to be cleaner and more efficient and be more prepared for future updates. I'll also soon get a git access, yay !

the flickering is because you have a nvidia graphic card, you should disable "allow flipping" in "OpenGL settings"

this will works if you install nvidia drivers as i do.

i use gtk-recordmydesktop to capture the screen.. if it works, let me know ;)

@d5p Check that the png plugin in compiz is enabled, and that you have the files and that they are correct images in ~/.compiz/data. If the images are missing, try fetching them again on SVN (or you can find that kind of image searching google a bit). If that still doesn't work, it's maybe because you have an old or integrated video card that lacks video memory. Try finding smaller texture images (or resizing the ones bundled with the plugin) if that's the case..

All I'm getting is a white globe. skydome.png isn't even showing up.
