@LaxNoise Another important point (lol sorry) is that while there are certainly things we have no understanding of in the universe, thus opening up potentially cataclysmic possibilities, there is as much chance of the possibility you cited occurring tomorrow as there is this december. There is no way to tie things we dont understand (even some things we do) to one certain date. All this hype has exploded out of nutters trying to make a few bob out of the end of the mayan calander.

@LaxNoise Also (sorry to yammer by the way lol) imagine a nasa employee who is aware of this, and maybe by law he is unable to disclose any of this information. Do you not think his friends and family might notice a change, with him knowing the world was going to end and all. The institutions themselves would crumble if a member knew the apocalypse to be inevitable. Someone would crack.

Interesting discussion, however i disagree with the conspiracy aspect. Honestly, if nasa or the government was aware that the world was going to end, it would leak out. They are human as well as we are, and just as prone to fear, the leadership of our country and the decisions made by said government would become far more short term and well, obvious. In this day and age it would not be able to be covered up. something smaller perhaps, but not the destruction of the entire planet.

@Maplewalnuht While you may have a point, I feel that his words at the end were true, he is piqueing our interest, and encouraging us to persue and research forward. It may be that simply making a video on one topic would go too far in depth and alienate or discourage the audience.

@Neandrathal But what science does is that if it turns out something that had been assumed was wrong it will be put back on the table and re-examined till everything fits again.

Also if the very base assumptions everything would be built on are based on faith and thus possibly untrue. Everything built upon that faulty base would result in things not working out in calculations and practical applications. For example biology and chemistry in medicine. Understand my problem now?
