In 1945 the US did very well understand the German problem. This certainlky was due to the influence of many Germans having fled to the US and providing advice how to manage Germany.
It is remarcable how fast the Germans managed to split the allies and instigate the US against Russia. The US were fed by the Organisation Gehlen/BND with faked information about the intent of the Soviet Union. This forced the US to prepare for an attack the Soviet Unionwas not capable of and obviously never intended.
Thus Germany made itself an important player during the cold war diverting from German atrocities and the ongoing struggle for German influence.
Another aim was to isolate France from the allies by openly promoting a German-French friendship while clandestinely fighting France using all dirty tricks conceivable.

You failed to mention the role of Papal Rome Jesuits in control the german war machine & ideologies & brainwashing of the German ppl . Catholosism was behind it all & still is .
