I was going to say the same thing. The website states that if it feels "tight and uncomfortable" (which is exactly what was described) that you may want to size up. They mentioned that most people can wear more than one size.
I would not recommend pushing the shoulder piece up. Instead, trying wearing on your non-dominant side where you do not need so much freedom of movement.
I think your problem may be that it is too small... I had a 3 and it was tight and uncomfortable like you said, but with a 4 it feels great... Great review though!
My hotsling feels tight also - already sized up once (from a 3 to a 4). Maybe I need to again but it sure is a hassle to keep buying another one!
