I wondered that too. Then I thought about; women are more accepting of Jesus. Men are harder to reach. So what would God do if He knows that men are hard to reach? Try and give them a man to look up to. Give them a whole group of men to see their love and devotion to Jesus and the Lord. Women were always close to Jesus, but it was the men that were hard to convince.

That's how I've rationalized it.
