They're 1,000 to 1,500 calories per MRE.
I've heard the 3,600 calorie thing before but I got a real MRE and counted the calories.

When you are out in the woods, MRE's come handy. When you are stranded in the middle of a hurricane, it is a God send food after having lived on coconuts for a few days. Thank you for the video and explanation.
