[Channel 4 News] Chad fighting continues 2008.02.04

"A third day of fighting has broken out between government and rebel troops in Chad with thousands of civilians fleeing the violence.

Huge numbers of people have left their homes in the capital N'Djamena and crossed into neighbouring Cameroon following the fierce fighting.

The UN has given the go ahead for France and other countries to help the government stop the rebels.

The fighting has delayed the European Union deployment of troops to the country's border with Sudan's Darfur region, a move aimed at preventing the violence there from engulfing Chad."

Actually 600 Irish troops will be out there by December me included aswell as 60 Dutch marines who will conduct recconasince. All Irish troops will be from the 97th infantry battalion. We are out there for 12 months then there will be a diz by the Government wether to stay out there or come home. We are out there to protect the civilians and the refugee's from the Chadian rebels and the war that is just across the border in neighboring Darfur.
