Albertine (cover)

oh man, i can't even begin to tell you how God used this song to speak to my heart. but, i have to mention a quick note from James 2:14-26. the song says, "Faith without deeds is dead." this doesn't mean it is doing good works or being a good person that is going to save you. no. the Word says in Ephesians 2:8 we are saved by grace (the love and perfect will of the Father displayed in His Son Jesus Christ) through faith, "and that not of yourselves." that last part means that there is nothing we can do out of our own self-righteousness or our own efforts to save ourselves. but, that thru the Cross, thru the precious blood of Jesus, thru God's perfect love, we are reconciled to Him.

anywho, the song mentions James 2:17, that "Faith without deeds is dead." what does this mean? if it's not works that saves us, then what does works play in conjunction with faith? Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are [God's] workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." furthermore, back to James 2, verse 22 says THAT faith working together WITH works is what perfects faith. "...by works faith was made perfect."

BE ENCOURAGED BY THIS MESSAGE! don't lose heart, guys, to continue spreading the good news of Jesus Christ! Matthew 5:16 says, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." amen, amen, amen.

in 2004 Brooke Fraser went to Rwanda, and there she met a girl called Albertine. Before she came back one of the guys from the village she was in told her she should tell their stories to the world, and write a song.

So she did. Albertine is a song about the girl she met in Rwanda.
