1982

Shirley recorded and released this on on her 1982 Applause LP titled, 'Shirley Bassey, All By Myself'

ABOUT this song:
Can You Read My Mind is the love theme from the 1978 film Superman, with music by John Williams and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse.

The music is a theme for Lois Lane, whose role in the film was performed by Margot Kidder. It was originally recorded as a pop-influenced piece, but as the original version might have dated the picture, a more orchestrated version was used for the final film.

This clip includes pictures of many of those who have portrayed the Superman and Lois Lane characters on film throughout the past century.

LYRICS:
Can you read my mind?
Do you know what it is you do to me?
Don't know who you are
Just a friend from another star
Here I am Like a kid at the school
Holding hands With a god(??) I'm a fool
Will you look at me, quivering, Like a little girl, shivering
You can see right through me
Can you read my mind?
Can you picture the things I'm thinking of?
Wondering why you are
All the wonderful things you are
You can fly You belong to the sky
You and I Could belong to each other
If you need a friend
I'm the one to fly to
If you need To be lovedere I am Read my mind
Will you look at me, quivering Like a little girl, shivering
You can see right through me
If you need a friend I'm the one to fly to
If you need To be loved
Here I am
Read my mind

ABOUT the LP, All By Myself:
All by Myself is a 1982 album by Shirley Bassey. Having ended her contract with United Artists around 1980, Bassey took a break from recording, and then began releasing albums on various labels. All by Myself was the first of these, issued on the Applause label. 1982 was the dawn of the CD era, and this was her first-ever album to be issued on CD. The album was also issued on LP and cassette. In the UK and some other countries, the album was titled Love Songs, with identical cover art, and under that name it charted for five weeks on the UK albums chart, peaking at #48.

  • This one seems only to start when I click on and change to 480p. Does anyone else have this same problem? There are a ton of graphics in this clip so that could be the reason. thks, Scot
