  • Where is that pier located in respect to like say Cannon Point?

  • @cwexcel

It's south just even with the tank farm if you know where that is.... really pretty there. Are you there now? Some of our people will be there next month.

  • Too bad you didn't show how our US tax dollars are being spent by including the bases there. Yes, I know they're CLASSIFIED!!

  • Cardboard Citizens have taken a keen interest in the Chagosian struggle over the years, and have now delved into the history through theatre. Written with personal testimonies of those who lived through the struggle, we are performing in February/March in London this year...youtube.com/watch?v=qxkuZ47T1h8

  • I did a few deployments there in the early 80s, and was stationed there in '86-88. That pier wasn't even there then. First time I was there we lived in a tin/wood quansit hut in Splinterville. I was also there for the '83 earthquake (6.6 according to USGS, but they clocked it at the time to be 7.2). When I was stationed there they had just finished the barracks up by Cannon Point. Used to hang out at the ExPat club on the ocean side, even tho we weren't supposed to. Awesome place. I'd go back.

  • @60eyewatcher Berkeley. Yeah. *rolls eyes*

  • @HaiLsKuNkY ..No look at the history...sorry to say but they were natives and were made to go to Mauritius where all hated them and thus, became homeless. I was there in 1990 and clueless about this. A professor from Berkeley explained it well.

  • America is an empire, not a republic.

  • Were you ever on the YoYo (USS Yosemite)? Just thought there might be a connection there. I served on her and spent 1999 on DG. Great NAVY days indeed!! - Cool pics!!!

  • reminds me of my trip early march 2009, very nice island and great experience of taking C-17 from paya lebar airbase!

  • get the fuck out of this island you thieves
