ANNOUNCER CHRONICLES - PART 3

One day, two rivals decided to challenge each other in a dark and dangerous cave. One battle for all the marbles. And the announcer (that's me) somehow got tangled up in that mess.

One of our combatants is holding nothing back, with the most powerful Pokemon this region knows of. As for the other...well, I don't know what that guy's thinking with the Pokemon they chose, but I've still been called up to announce the battle, so however one-sided it may be, that's what I'll do.

[OOC: Because the premise of this battle is so absurd and unlikely, but it's precisely that absurdity which creates the entertainment value I was going for, I had to luck-manipulate into this outcome. The only luck manipulation tool available to me is brute force--if the battle ever got out of hand, I would reset the N64 and start all over. Then just repeat a few hundred times. That's pretty much what went into the making of this.

You may be interested in a video that just has the pure game footage, without my voiceovers. Of course I can provide that, and since this is far shorter than any of the other Announcer Chronicles, I can even make it available at a long-term address. See http://soniccenter.org/sm/r2rivalnocommentary.avi if you want it.]

  • I still stand by what I said. The chances are multiplied between all the probabilities, not added. It's the same way that Protect's chance of working is multiplied by 1/2 each turn, but it doesn't go to 1/6 after the 3rd successful attempt, it goes to 1/8.

  • Are you familiar with the distinction between serial and parallel circuitry?

To evaluate the win probability of a battle like this, you can represent it as a circuit map. Within that map, the Protect sequence while waiting for Toxic is a giant 15-way parallel fork, each branch of which contains 2 to 6 probabilistic gates. To get the probability of a specific branch, you have to multiply all the gates on it, but then at the end you add the probability of all 15 branches together.

  • Blisspwn:

    Heal Bell, Softboiled, CURSE, DOUBLE-EDGE

This is what I call trolling. Problem, special attackers?

  • I would think the level 5 team is more blatant trolling myself, but whatever.

  • u should do something with the mini game championship

  • Like what, smash it repeatedly with a hammer and throw it in the trash?
